FMP - First Concepts

First Concepts

I have chosen three sketches from my compositional layouts, refined some shapes and applied colour to them to give a more clear idea of the content of the images. Again these are produced quickly to show the feel of the game or environment and are not a final representation. I have presented this work to the group and the Medieval Sci-fi Cave IP has been selected as having the most potential. Before producing these paintings this was the IP I was least interested in and I much preferred the other ideas I had to work with. Having finished the paintings to a level I am happy with without wasting too much time on unnecessary details I believe that the right choice has been made.

FMP - Compositional Sketches

Compositional Sketches

These are the compositional sketches I have done for each of the IP selections. They are just rough outlines for shot angles and for the layout of elements within the images and are not meant to be seen as designs, but are merely a rough idea for me to use as a tool to better my artwork with. From here I will select the sketches I feel will give a better result and produce some relatively quick concepts to establish colour palettes and the overall mood.

FMP - IP Selection

IP Selection

I have created this table for the first stage of my project where I have asked the members of my group to select an option from each of the three columns and combine them to create a unique and original IP for the game design to progress further. I will select the most reasonably achievable results from the choices that have been made and quickly sketch up some compositions for shots and design ideas.
The choices I have selected are:

·         19050s style city in a desert canyon
·         Art Deco City in a rainforest
·         Sci-Fi Medieval Castle in a cave
·         Sci-Fi Japan under the sea
